The Harvard College Writing Center

Offering drop-in hours and one-on-one appointments with peer tutors, the Writing Center is a valuable resource at any stage of the writing process. The Writing Center also publishes helpful strategies for essay writing. Students can also schedule appointments with an English Grammar and Language tutor.

HarvardWrites

A joint venture of the Harvard College Writing Program, the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning, and the departments and schools represented on the site, HarvardWrites features Harvard professors talking about writing in their courses and in their fields, with interactive learning exercises meant to help students see how scholars work with the elements of academic argument. 

Writing Guides

The Harvard Writing Project, has collaborated with Harvard professors and Teaching Fellows to develop numerous Writing Guides:

  • Gen Ed Guides

  • Discipline-Specific Guides

  • Senior Thesis Guides

Departmental Writing Fellows

Supported by the Harvard Writing Project and the Harvard College Writing Center, Departmental Writing Fellows are available to provide one-on-one, discipline-specific writing tutorials for students in their concentration courses.

Harvard Guide to Using Sources

The Harvard Guide to Using Sources (HGUS), developed by the Harvard College Writing Program, is a required component of the Expos curriculum and a helpful tool for students as they learn to use sources effectively.
