Public Speaking

The Writing Program is also home to Expos 40, Harvard College's only public speaking practicum course. Taught by experts in public speaking, Expos 40 focuses on developing and strengthening the skills necessary for successful public speaking, whether in courses, extracurricular organizations, job interviews, or professional contexts beyond campus. Students learn strategies for impromptu speaking, preparing and delivering presentations, formulating and organizing persuasive arguments, cultivating critical thinking, engaging with an audience, using the voice and body, and building confidence in oral expression. Admission is by lottery only, and the course is limited to 15 students per section to ensure ample and customized feedback from the instructor.
